Life is filled with ups and downs, but having a positive attitude is critical for success in any endeavor.  The trick is, how to maintain a positive attitude in life’s down times so that you can see the possibilities and solutions rather than focusing on the negatives of the situation.  This is where affirmations come in.

Everyone does better and feels better when we get a bit of encouragement.  It builds the confidence and self-esteem that are critical for getting things done in a positive way.  It has been known for centuries that the people who are the most successful have someone behind encouraging them each step of the way.  But this is not always possible, and even relationships go through their ups and downs.

Back in the 1920’s Napoleon Hill suggested a couple way to help resolve this issue.  In his book, “Think and Grow Rich”, Mr. Hill recommended a combination of written self-affirmations that you read and repeat as well as listening to affirmation recordings.

With the technique of written self-affirmation, Mr. Hill recommended that you create personal affirmations and place a copy in your purse or wallet, and a copy on the mirror where you will see it every morning.  These affirmations should be hand written since the process of writing them down actually helps to put them into your subconscious mind.  The, in the morning, read your written affirmations out loud into the mirror.  When you have a few moments during the day, take out and quietly read the copy of your affirmations in your pocket.  As you do these things, you will find that what you have written and are reading slowly make their way into your subconscious mind.

Listening to affirmation recordings is also an amazing way to help improve your confidence and self-esteem.  There are actually affirmation recordings out there that are targeted to help you in specific ways, helping you to find the confidence and self-esteem you need in particular situations in addition to the general affirmation recordings that help lay a positive foundation into your subconscious mind.

I have been listening to David McGraw’s affirmation recordings for nearly a year now, and have seen great improvements in my self-esteem, confidence and life in general.  I listen to these recordings nearly every day while working, and some days, I listen to several of them.  His recordings are very good, and I can tell the difference inside of me both when I do them, as well as when I miss a day or two.
