“Love is not patronizing and charity isn’t about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same — with charity you give love, so don’t just give money but reach out your hand instead.” ~ Mother Teresa

Our lives on this earth are a physical manifestation of our higher selves. We take birth to experience life and learn our lessons through the situations we encounter in it. These lessons lead us to enlightenment which is the ultimate objective of every human being. The spiritual laws act like a lighthouse that guides us towards consciousness. We should study the laws, understand their meanings and apply them in our lives. When we adopt the laws in our lives, we allow divinity to take control of us and this propels us towards enlightenment. Here we will discuss two such extremely important spiritual laws that when combined together open the fountain of peace, happiness and success.

The law of sharing – you get more when you give more

“When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.” ~ Maya Angelou

To share is to care. Throughout out childhood, we have heard this adage umpteen number of times. Every time we refused to share a candy or a pencil with our younger brother or our schoolmate, our parents reminded us of this proverb. Sharing is caring. However, we never thought why they kept on uttering those words. Now, we know as the spiritual laws teach us to share. The law of sharing is one of the most important laws of spirituality and it governs the entire universe.

The law of sharing tells us to share. It tells us that when we share, we become prosperous. However, you may wonder how? Let us go deeper and find out how.

The law of sharing explained

The world in which we reside is necessarily created out of energy and even our thoughts and actions are nothing but energies that we give out to the universe. There is a flow of energy that defines the universe and this flow of energy is ever expanding. When we share, we participate in this flow, thereby becoming a part of it. By adopting the law of sharing, we let divinity rule our life and slowly move towards complete consciousness.

Unfortunately, the materialistic approach that defines us prohibits us from sharing. We are made to believe that by giving up our earthly possessions, we will be impoverished. We are taught not to share but to fiercely guard our belongings.

However, if we comprehend the laws of the universe, we will learn that when we do not share, we detach ourselves from the universal flow of energy and that impoverishes our soul and does not let it attain enlightenment, which is our ultimate goal.

When we share, we open our heart and soul. Sharing is a two way process. It is giving and receiving combined in one act of kindness. It is heartwarming to know that many people still today believe in the power of sharing and the abundance it actually fetches. As Brian Tracy said, “Love only grows by sharing. You can only have more for yourself by giving it away to others.” His words can be extended to include other things also. You can only enjoy life and its many blessings when you share it with all.

By shutting yourself from the world, you only invite unhappiness in your life. Charlotte Bronte quite beautifully explained this when she said, “Happiness quite unshared can scarcely be called happiness; it has no taste.”

So, we need to share our happiness. The flow of energy ensures that what we give out comes back to us manifold. So, by sharing, you only become wiser, happier and richer. Moreover, when you share, you obey the orders of the supreme lord who also believes in sharing.

We belong to each other. We need to stand by other human beings when they are in trouble and share their sorrows. We need to show that we care. We should try to help each other and be of service to each other. The law of sharing, when studied from a different angle, helps us to understand the law of service. So, let’s study the law of service and find out how these two can be combined in our lives to make it complete.

The law of service – you grow only through serving others

“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” ~ John Bunyan

As human beings, we are bound to each other. We are responsible to make each other happy and help to achieve our goals. The nature and the universal laws teach us to serve each other. Only by serving others, we can increase our happiness and reach our own goals. The law of service teaches us to humbly serve others. Only when we serve others and work towards making others happy, we can experience peace as Mother Teresa said, “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”

When you want to help others, you have to understand their requirements. Some people are looking for food, some for love and some for care. You need to connect to them to serve them happily. When you connect to a fellow human being, you empathize with him. You stop judging others and accept people as they are. You become compassionate and you become one with them. When you get united with the people you serve, you experience union with the universe. You learn that serving people is actually serving god and this liberates your soul. You achieve enlightenment and you know that by sharing and by serving, you can reach your higher self.

When you practice the law of sharing and service in your practical life, you realize that you can be instrumental in bringing others joy and success. Sharing does not only mean sharing our money or materials. We can share our skills, our wisdom and our knowledge. When you share your skill or talent, you help others to grow professionally and that in one sense is also serving them. So, the law of service and sharing are intertwined.

Practicing these laws can help us to grow in life, in our careers and even spiritually. By sharing talents and knowledge, we can grow professionally. By sharing our wisdom, we grow spiritually. As you know the law of abundance brings more prosperity to the person who opens up his heart and soul and thus when you share and serve others, you let this law to work in your life also. You also allow the flow of energy to work unhindered in your life. So, these two laws together can show you the path of enlightenment.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Mahatma Gandhi said to this world in conformity to the spiritual laws. It is time that we also leave our materialistic thoughts behind and embrace the laws and make this world more beautiful. By practicing the spiritual laws of service and sharing we can uplift others and make them happy and derive pleasure from our acts. We can learn to be humble and thank for what we have got. We can also slowly move towards consciousness, our goal for being in this earthly plane.
