Creating a plan to achieve your dream is a great first step towards achieving your goals and dreams.  Spend enough time planning that you have a good idea of what resources you need and you need to do to achieve your goal, but not so much time that you spend all your time planning and not implementing your plan.  Having a plan helps you by:

  • Giving you a base level of knowledge for how to achieve your goals and dreams.  The research you do in creating your plan gives you a good foundation for what is out there and possibilities to help you achieve it.
  • Making it much more likely that you will take the actions necessary to start you on the path towards achieving your goals.  People without a plan of action will often take no action other than to simply sit and dream about their wishes and goals wondering why nothing good ever happens to them.
  • Having a plan also helps to reinforce your subconscious with the belief that achieving your dream is not just possible but going to happen with certainty.

But as you start to take action to implement your plan, be open and flexible with because God will guide you to many new ideas and amazing opportunities you would never have expected.

Every day, go over your plan and make changes to it as new ideas occur, new resources and people come along to help you and new opportunities arise.

Example:

I wanted to go skydiving so that I could help propel my life to the next stage of development.  I also wanted to take my son to help him overcome some issues as well.  (For those of you who want to get ahead in life, I strongly recommend going skydiving.  The fact that you are throwing yourself out of a functional airplane at 13,000 feet does something to your subconscious that lets you know you can accomplish anything.)

I figured out where I wanted to go, and how much it would cost and started saving money for it.  As I was going about my normal daily life, I came across a 25% coupon for the exact place I wanted to go!  This meant I had enough money.  I called the skydiving school and found that they had 2 openings left which was perfect for my son and me.  Normally my son is very busy on weekends but I called him, hoping that he would be free.  Again a miracle happened, he was completely free!  So I called the school back and scheduled our appointment and the next day we were throwing ourselves at the ground from an airplane!

Here is the thing:

  • If I didn’t have a plan in place, I probably would not have had the money or the proper mindset for the opportunity that was given to me.
  • If I had been ridged with my plan and its implementation, I would not have been open to the opportunity presented by the coupon and modified my plan.  The opportunity to go sooner and at a reduced cost would have been lost.

When you are working to achieve your dreams, do some research and create a plan.  Remember to create enough of a plan so that you have a reasonable idea of how to get from point A to point B but not so much that it bogs you down.  Then take immediate action to implement that plan and be open to God / the universe to present you with shortcuts to make it happen quicker, better, cheaper than you had originally planned.
